Desigual is a Spanish brand whose identity rests entirely on print, patchwork and mixed fabrics. That is what makes it instantly recognisable, and what dictates how to assess it second-hand: on such a heavily printed piece, what decides the condition is how well the colour has held and the integrity of the appliqués. Always compare an area exposed to light with a sheltered area of the garment, and check the embroidery, patches and sewn-on trims, where a single missing one shows immediately on a dense pattern. The sizing follows European sizes and stays fairly fitted. On a pre-owned piece, also check the assembly seams, more numerous than on a plain garment because of the patchwork, and on knits the snags, to be looked for against the light.
