adidas is probably the brand whose second-hand pieces are easiest to read, because its codes can be dated precisely: the three stripes, the trefoil for the Originals line, the three-bar logo for performance. An Originals piece and a recent training piece share neither the same cut nor the same fabric, even when they carry the same size. Tracksuits and sweatshirts from the 1990s run wide and short, with raglan sleeves; current production is more fitted. On a pre-owned piece, what decides its condition is the flocking and the screen printing: a logo that cracks or whose edges lift cannot be repaired. On technical garments, check the waist and cuff elastics, which lose their spring before the fabric wears. Full-length zips are worth trying along their whole run.
