G-Star RAW was built on a precise idea: deliver raw, unwashed denim and let the garment fade on its wearer. That explains the brand's highly constructed cuts, with panels, visible topstitching and legs that are sometimes articulated at the knee - the Elwood is the best-known example. Second-hand, this construction is an advantage: a G-Star pair of jeans worn for a long time has a patina nobody can reproduce, and the fabrics used are generally heavier than average. The sizing, however, needs to be taken seriously: the brand's cuts are narrower than they look, particularly through the thighs. Check the contrast topstitching, which is a style feature and shows immediately if a thread has broken, as well as the rivets and engraved buttons.
