The Kooples is a French brand with a wardrobe built tightly around a narrow silhouette and a dark palette, with a recognisable signature: leather details, close-fitting cuts and shirts with a slim button-down collar. Its pieces resell well because they stay identifiable without looking dated. Sizing is the main point to watch: the cuts are distinctly narrow, especially at the shoulders and armholes, and it is not unusual to need a size up from your usual one. Second-hand, check the leather trims, which are the brand's style feature and dry out or crack if the piece has been badly stored. On shirts, check the collar points and the buttons, often specific. On fine knits, looking against the light reveals snags that are invisible from the front.
