Ellesse is an Italian brand born from skiing and tennis, whose identity rests on a half-ball logo and bold colours. Its appeal second-hand is twofold: pieces from the 1980s and 1990s are sought after for their silhouette, and recent reissues pick up the same codes, which makes the two easy to wear together. The dating clue is the label and the fineness of the embroidered logo. Older pieces run wide and short, reissues closer to the body, and the brand gives European sizes. On a pre-owned piece, the sensitive points are typical of the sportswear of that era: the contrast colour bands, which may have bled onto a light background, the waist and cuff elastics, and the fastenings. On shiny synthetic fabrics, an area made glossy by rubbing cannot be rescued.
