Second-hand Kenzo

Kenzo is a Parisian house founded by Kenzo Takada, whose identity comes through colour and print - floral motifs, mixed fabrics, bold palettes. That is what makes it recognisable second-hand, and also what calls for the most attention: on a printed piece, what decides the condition is how well the colour has held. Always compare an area exposed to light with a sheltered area of the garment; gradual fading cannot be corrected. Like many houses, Kenzo licensed some lines, so the label and the composition say more than the name alone. The sizing follows European conventions and stays fairly fitted. On a pre-owned piece, also check knits against the light, and on embroidered pieces the integrity of the motifs, which an overly harsh wash stretches for good.
