Kookaï is a French brand whose identity was built on a very fitted silhouette and short pieces, particularly sought after today for the collections of the 1990s and 2000s. That is precisely what calls for attention second-hand: the brand's size system is numbered from 0 to 4 and runs small, a 1 being roughly an XS or a small S depending on the production. Trusting the flat measurements rather than the label is more than a tip here. On a pre-owned piece, fine fabrics and body-hugging knits are the points to watch: look for pulled threads against the light, and check the spring of the elastane, which never comes back once lost - on such a fitted cut, a slack fabric completely changes how the piece hangs. Finally, check the back fastenings, the main stress points.
