Second-hand Weill

Weill is a French womenswear ready-to-wear house founded in Paris, focused on natural fabrics and classic cuts rather than seasonal effects. That is what makes it relevant second-hand: a Weill jacket or pair of trousers does not date easily, and the wools and cottons used stand up well to the years when they have been cared for. The sizing follows French sizes and stays fairly structured, with a close-to-the-body construction on jackets. The things to check are those of natural fabrics: on wool, pilling where it rubs and any moth damage, to be looked for in the inside seams rather than on the surface; on linen and cotton, how even the colour is, comparing an area exposed to light with a sheltered one. On lined pieces, the lining under the arms gives way before the outer fabric, and it can be replaced.
