Zapa is a French brand with a sober womenswear wardrobe, focused on natural fabrics and structured cuts rather than seasonal effects. That is precisely what makes it relevant second-hand: a Zapa jacket or pair of trousers does not date easily, and the fabrics used - wool, cotton, linen - stand the test of time when they have been properly cared for. The sizing follows French sizes and stays fitted, with a fairly close-to-the-body construction on jackets. The things to check are those of natural fabrics: on wool, pilling where it rubs and any moth damage, to be looked for along the inside seams; on linen and cotton, how even the colour is, as these fabrics fade gradually in the light. On lined jackets, check the state of the lining under the arms, which gives way before the outer fabric.
