Zara holds a particular place in second-hand: the brand produces a lot, renews quickly, and a large share of what circulates pre-owned has been worn very little. That is what makes some pieces interesting - you regularly find jackets and coats in almost new condition - but it calls for more attention than elsewhere to the garment's intrinsic quality, which varies a great deal from one collection to another. The brand's sizing is known to be narrow and inconsistent from one piece to the next: two items of the same size can hang differently, and it is better to trust the flat measurements than the label. On a pre-owned piece, the usual weak points are the assembly seams, sometimes light, thin linings that tear at the armholes, and the fastenings. On the other hand, the natural fabrics of the more carefully made lines often age better than the brand's reputation would suggest.
