On a pre-owned T-shirt, two things decide everything, and neither of them is the fabric itself. The first is the neckline: once stretched, it never recovers its shape, and that is what makes a T-shirt look tired even when the cotton is intact. The second is the print, when there is one: a screen print cracks and then peels, whereas embroidery survives many more washes - all else being equal, the embroidered piece will last longer. Also look at how the hem hangs, as it twists when the cotton has been washed too hot. On size, the most common gap comes from the era: T-shirts from the 1990s, especially from sports brands, are wide and short, where recent production is much narrower. Two pieces of the same size can therefore hang very differently.
