The Levi's T-shirt is a side product for the brand, and that is precisely what makes it interesting second-hand: the cotton used is generally thicker than that of promotional T-shirts, and the graphics - batwing logo, vintage lettering - are easy to date, so you know what you are buying. The sizing follows US sizes and stays fairly straight. On a pre-owned piece, the neckline is the point of no return: once stretched, it does not recover its shape, and that is what makes a T-shirt look tired even when the cotton is sound. The print comes next - a screen print that cracks or peels is irreversible, where embroidery lasts much longer. Finally, look at how the hem hangs, as it twists after washes that were too hot.
