Lacoste knitwear is less well known than the polos but follows the same logic: dense cotton, consistent construction, and models that do not date. The trap is still the size system - the brand numbers from 2 to 7, a 4 being an M, a 5 an L, a 6 an XL - and older pieces run larger for the same number. On a pre-owned sweatshirt or jumper, wear does not start where you look for it: it is the ribbed edges, cuffs, hem and neckline, that lose their spring before the knit itself suffers. Then check for pilling at the elbows and under the arms, which can be removed, then the embroidery of the crocodile - a loose thread signals washes that were too hot. On fine knits, look for snags against the light.
